Joanna McVay has been dedicated to the North Highlands Recreation & Park District (NHRPD) for over 40 years. Joanna’s journey began in 1981 as a Recreation Supervisor, later serving as an independent contractor for 35 years and as a Board Member from 1996 to 2004 before returning to the Board. A longtime resident since 1993, she has been instrumental in revitalizing community initiatives, including the Celebrate North Highlands event.

With a lifelong passion for youth development, she has worked with children six days a week for over 40 years and partnered with nearly every park and recreation agency in Sacramento County. Her leadership has contributed to significant community projects, including land acquisition efforts for NHRPD. As a Board Member, Joanna is committed to ensuring accessible, high-quality programming, strong financial transparency, and a collaborative approach to serving the district.

In her free time, she enjoys woodworking, gardening, painting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
